Finally Made it to Lviv
I am at the Budomierz – Hruszów border crossing from Poland into Ukraine now. There is a good long line of other similar smaller vehicles ahead of me. Prior to leaving this morning I went to the customs office in Tomaszów Lubelski to confirm what I was told at the Hrebenne border yesterday: there was a change to the law. They confirmed that only larger vehicles/trucks with export documents are able to pass at the Hrebenne border now. I purchased the van in Poland and will register it in Ukraine so it is considered an export.
I also wanted to review and confirm ALL my documents are in order and that I did not need to make any changes to my documents or require any other documents. They confirmed ALL my documents are in order and I did not need anything else to cross.
Now all smaller vehicles being exported like mine must go to other border crossings. This border crossing is the closest to Hrebenne for exporting smaller vehicles. I was unable to find out which crossings are closed to smaller vehicles other than Hrebenne or which are available other than this one. Given all this, I will wait in this line that’s not moving with my fingers crossed, that I am able to make it into Ukraine today.
I’ve been talking to people in Ukraine and there are Air Raid Sirens going off in the West and that could be the reason why the border here is closed now, possibly in other locations as well. Trying to find out more. I have been here for 3 hours now and I have not moved and the border is still closed. I’m going to drive up to the Hrebenne border and try again there.
Arrived in Ukraine
6 hours later… Fingers crossed… I made it through the Poland side of the border crossing! I am in Ukraine! On my way to Lviv!
Several hours later… Finally! I made it to Lviv! Had to ‘creatively talk’ my way through the 2 borders but I’m here now! The traffic was crazy heading from Ukraine to Poland. People were hightailing it outta here today. The drone strikes and missiles and air raid sirens have everyone spooked – for good reason.
The above picture is from where I’m staying. Now it’s time to get something to eat. This place looks good.
Everyone take care. Slava Ukraini!
