From Lviv to Bakhmut – Building a Team
This journey started with Ian flying to Poland and buying a van to aid in the humanitarian crisis. He bought a van and rented a big house where refugees could stay. Then he found some supplies that needed to be delivered in Ukraine and found some war refugees that needed to be brought to a safer place. This is diving into the deep end of the pool.
New friends were made, and a team began to form. The van needed some time in the shop, but the war did not stop and humanitarian aid still needed to be delivered. Some of these new friends added their trucks and trailers to the cause. A small fleet was born.
Even the ‘safe’ areas of Ukraine are still subject to missile strikes and drone attacks. Other areas, like Bakhmut, are right on the front line of the war. All of these places need humanitarian aid, but the more dangerous places also have refugees that need to be rescued from the front lines.
These dangerous times have highlighted the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people – these times have also brought out the best in some very brave and determined volunteers. Slava Ukraini!
