Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure
While delivering supplies in Lviv today we had two missiles hit. Kyiv was also hit as were many areas in Ukraine today – there was even a place in Poland that was probably struck. The goal seems to be damaging as much Ukrainian infrastructure and utilities as possible knowing that cold winter weather is coming. This Ukrainian people will need support so they don’t starve or freeze this winter, forcing Ukraine to cave in.
I went to a refugee center here in Lviv. It was awful. Living conditions are disgusting. Like they were left and forgotten. But some of us are trying to help. While we were there delivering supplies, World Central Kitchen showed up delivering food. Everyone was thankful for what they received. I wanted to take a picture of the people but my emotions were torn: a picture can really tell the story but it felt wrong to objectify them – so I didn’t take a picture of the people in the refugee center.
EDIT: A few hours later.
Power just came back on. Internet just came back up. Cell service also back on. Recharging everything. Hearing reports on a possible missile strike in Poland in addition to a barrage of missiles throughout Ukraine. Now able to make calls and send/receive messages again on all apps.
You’ve got to love the determination of Ukrainians.
The people of Ukraine are strong willed despite the horrible circumstances. They are an inspiration – but the situation is so bad that they need our help.
