Real News from Ukraine
Often it is difficult to find out what is actually happening in our home town. It is much more difficult to find out what is happening in far away places – especially half way around the world. Part of the problem is that sensationalism sells, so we only get Breaking Headline News from our for-profit media sources without details or context. Bless their hearts for trying, but sometimes the truth is more important than maximizing profits… Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now.
After many months trying to find out what is happening on the ground in Ukraine, I’ve found a handful of people posting daily reports about what is going on in Ukraine – accurate accounts without the sensationalism, without the American partisan blah blah blah. Actual journalism can be found, but you have to look for it. Let me introduce you to my vetted news sources for realistic reporting about Ukraine. Here’s the shocking part: these people are on YouTube.
YouTube Channel: Reporting from Ukraine
‘Reporting from Ukraine’ https://www.youtube.com/@RFU
As he states on his channel: I am a Ukrainian. On this channel I will give you the latest news about the war in Ukraine. He gives precise objective analysis of what is happening on the front lines of the war in Ukraine. He doesn’t spin anything, just gives the facts whether the news is good or whether the news is bad. His videos are usually about 5 minutes long and are straight to the point. I highly recommend watching him daily. As they say on YouTube: Be sure to Click on Subscribe and Like the Video by clicking on Thumbs Up.
YouTube Channel: Denys Davydov
‘Denys Davydov Channel’ https://www.youtube.com/@DenysDavydov
Denys is also Ukrainian and he is a civilian pilot. Because of the war all commercial airlines have been shutdown in Ukraine. Since the war began, Denys shifted from talking about flying airplanes to reporting about the war. He talks about what is happening on the front lines, but he also talks a lot about what is going on in the rest of Ukraine and how people are reacting to Russia’s attacks on civilian targets. He is currently in Kyiv which is frequently under attack from missiles and drones – so all too often he has to stop recording because power went out or the air-raid sirens are wailing. I definitely recommend watching his videos, they are very informative.
YouTube Channel: Jake Broe
Jake Broe Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@JakeBroe
Jake Broe is an American. Before the war he talked mostly about economics. Since the war in Ukraine began, most of his focus is on Ukraine. Jake talks about the front lines of the war but he also talks about the geopolitics of the situation. He is style is very straightforward.
This is the description from his YouTube page: I talk about current events and geopolitics. I am a United States Air Force veteran who served for six years as a Nuclear and Missile Operations Officer. I also have six years of work experience traveling and living abroad in Asia. Subscribe to my channel for weekly update videos on international conflicts as well as conversations with engaging podcast guests.
